I've often heard the argument that the NFL is bad for boxing.  I'm not sure I've ever really bought into it.  The argument goes something like this: instead of young athletes going into a gym and dreaming about becoming fighters, they grow up playing football with visions of NFL contracts dancing in their heads instead (not title belts). I'm starting to come around on the notion now though.

Vitali Klitschko released the following video statement about after his KO win over Odlanier Solis.  Vitali is adamant about his punches being the the reason the fight ended with Solis unable to continue (and not that Solis someone injured himself somehow outside the chain of events). So it looks like Odlanier Solis was not faking and was not just knocked silly by a punch (in the traditional manner).  Word out of Germany is that Solis has shredded ligaments in his knee. Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, you know...the one that was supposed to clean up boxing but has ended up looking just as fishy as every other promotional company on the planet, has been suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission for 90 days for failure to turn in paperwork in a timely manner. Juan Manuel Lopez continued his undefeated run with a 2nd round knockout over Bernabe Concepcion Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Lopez is now 29-0 though he did have to get off the floor in round 1 to win the fight.
